The call to prayer is an exclamation or a call that uses specific pronunciation to indicate the time for obligatory prayer and an invitation to perform the prayer in congregation. It was stipulated in the first year of Hijrah. A historical overview shows that the Messenger of God appointed Bilal bin Rabah RA as the earliest companion who was determined to take on the task of being a muezzin or a call to prayer for the Messenger of God SAW. Therefore, until now, the genealogy of sanad azan can still be passed down continuously between generations until reaching the Prophet SAW through Bilal bin Rabah RA. However, the topic of discussion about sanad azan is still rarely examined critically, especially the aspect of its continuity among local muezzin. With that, this paper aims to examine the continuity of the sanad of a respondent who is on duty as a mosque muezzin or bilal in Selangor. Data collection was collected through document analysis instruments related to ijazah and unstructured interviews with respondents. Data analysis is done descriptively. The results of the study are analyzed based on the ijazah pillars of the case study sample, genealogy and relevance of the ijazah. The findings show that the sanad azan ijazah is still being spread for the purpose of preserving the quality of makhraj, tajwid and rhythm in the delivery of the azan on a scientific basis. For that reason, there are still local muezzin who are concerned about practicing this sanad today. In other words, it teaches or learns to pronounce the call to prayer in a trained manner under the guidance of teachers who have been guided by teachers after teachers until the highest level of the chain is connected to Bilal bin Rabah RA who has received the talqin of call to prayer from the Messenger of Allah SWT.
